GM Launching New Online Parts Store for AC Delco and GM Genuine Parts
Adding an aftermarket air conditioner to my 1970 Monte Carlo recently was harder than it should have been.
The installation required a new double-groove water pump pulley that wasn’t available immediately through a local GM dealer. Since we hoped to have the work done before Christmas, we searched for the fastest delivery time and decided to settle for foreign-made parts that would arrive sooner. Unfortunately, all three pulleys turned out to be warped, so we ended up having to locate a NOS Genuine GM pulley that works perfectly now but couldn’t be installed until after the New Year.Hopefully, any future work on this 52-year-old car should be a lot easier with GM’s announcement this week that it is launching a new online parts marketplace, with a catalog of 45,000 repair and maintenance parts for Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. (No word on how far back those parts will go, unfortunately.)
Among the parts known to be available will be oil filters, engine and cabin air filters, batteries, brake pads, accessory belts, cooling hoses, windshield wiper blades, and more.
“Making our parts available online marks another step in transforming the ACDelco and GM Genuine Parts brands,” said GM Customer Care and Aftersales Global Vice President John Roth. “Our premium parts are engineered with exceptional quality to provide assurance to our customers. The launch of this trusted online sales channel extends that peace of mind to the parts-buying experience.”The parts ordered online can be delivered right to your door, or you can pick them up at one of the 800-plus participating dealers and have your questions answered by staff members there.
Parts ordered through the online store will also earn points for customers who are participating in Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC rewards programs.
